::Some time ago, an expat friend of mine from Ireland took me to what I believe was the original location of Perez H in San Telmo. He said the owner (co-owner? manager? I don't recall) wanted to hear what an americano thought of his hamburgers. At the time I thought they were all right, not cooked to my specifications, not browned enough, not seasoned well enough, but all right. The burger I just had from Perez H in Palermo was also just all right. Also not cooked to my specifications, also not browned enough, and maybe a tad too salty. Inexplicably, also a bit rubbery, like a fast-food burger. I also still don't understand why it's so common to get so much gristle in the hamburgers here, but I had to pull a few inedible nuggets out of my teeth. Just not what I'm used to from the States. The bun was very good, spackled with seeds, more than just sesame, and with a glossy, perfectly domed top. People say there's been a burger revolution in Buenos Aires over the last few years. There certainly are a lot of hamburger joints, but I don't share that glowing opinion. I am grateful however for the sudden abundance finally of good sandwich bread. The fries weren't fresh but I liked the skin-on, strong potato flavor. I'd say that Perez H is an above-average, if not spectacular choice for the late-night, after-bar munchies.

::Not as good as the original. Grill master doesn't know how to properly char the burgers. You're left with a boiled tasting patty. Won't be going back.
