  I was born in Coronda ( present population 16.000, or maybe 20.000) a long long time ago, I've lived in New York for over fifty years. Today I received from a dear relative in Argentina a box containing alfajores from Las Dos Rosas, a bakery located in my birth place, Coronda. It was a double thrill, for the exquisite alfajores themselves and for the pangs of nostalgia that the mention of Coronda unchained. Alfajores are a sweet treat typical of my natal province, Santa Fe, but off hand I suspect we got them via Southern Spain, the name "alfajor" sounding very arabic, like most Spanish words that begin with AL.
