  They have a good selection of groceries and had money in the ATM, unlike many of the banks around here.

  Fairly good product selection. The price is on the higher end of the spectrum. Lots of fancy imported food if you're into that. And a good selection of wines and champagne. There's also a decent buffet with warm food for take away. Also they have a banco ciudad ATM which has the lowest fees if you're trying to withdraw cash with a foreign card.

  I've been drinking Malbecs since the first trip I took here I don't know how long ago. They're reliable like a Côtes du Rhône. You know it's going to be dry you know it's going to be drinkable you know it's going to be cheap. And there were a few I knew to be spectacular, like Amancaya, the product of a joint venture between Catena I think and Lafite Rothschild. You don't see that one anymore. A couple days ago I had a Trumpeter 2016. Unbelievable. Cost ten bucks in a store here and I think it cost the same in the restaurant. It is my intention to discover a great deal more about these wines.  So what do we know about Malbecs? I believe it's an Italian varietal, perhaps under another name in the old world. They're a relatively light wine, not usually blended with other grapes to produce meritages, and they're simple. Simple in the sense that they are not complex. There is no layering of flavor. There's no real discernible aftertaste. And they don't breathe. But accepting that they are a simple, cheap wine, there are some that are spectacular. The Trumpeter is one of them. It is extremely dry and smooth. More I cannot say because I'm not an aficionado, yet. Mendoza's on the horizon though.

  Largest supermarket we found in Palermo (kind of small to medium by UK standards) - everything you could need with an emphasis on fresh produce. Although no fresh fish of any sort! Begrudgingly let me pay by credit card with just a driving license as ID. Not cheap but that's Argentina for you at the current £ exchange rate...
