::I've been in Argentina for 5 months and always shopped at Libertad. It was okay with acceptable prices in the past. May 29th I was turned away and refused service because I didn't have my original passport with me (something that was never required before). The cashier had already swiped my card and everything. If you are a foreigner then you know that carrying the passport everywhere is not only unnecessary... it is dangerous. When they were presented with my photocopy (the alternative i.d. I always use and the safe one) the first thing they told me was "we can't use that... you can leave." I have never been denied use of my photocopy before. Whenever I have spoken with vendors they always say the same: "photocopy is fine and you shouldn't carry the passport around because it's dangerous." I guess this place is no longer ''Foreigner Friendly' After this I told them to cancel the transaction. I gave them back the stuff and they said it was cancelled. However, I checked my bank later to find that they had charged me anyway. I went back to the store and showed them this and explained they had made a mistake and failed to cancel the purchase. The cashier became very upset and the manager just walked away. They refused to do anything about it. So in the end they took my money and gave me nothing for it. I see this as no different than theft. I advise finding a different store to shop in. There are plenty of foreigner friendly, helpful stores in Cordoba.
