::A little history... Its creation is associated with a tragic event that occurred during an election in 1894 in the city of LoberÃa, which led to the first political death. During the electoral elections of that year, Gaspar MartÃn Campos got angry with Juan Pedro Burgos and tore up some minutes, at the same time that he pronounced "This is how the elections are won." Burgos reacts by taking out his weapon, the aforementioned accompanies him, and, in the atrium of the primitive Loberense parish, there is an intense shooting of more than 20 shots. Campos is mortally wounded, he dies on March 27, 1894. Burgos simulates a flight to Uruguay. The mother of the deceased, Mrs. Carmen Otamendi de Campos, began legal proceedings against Juan Pedro Burgos in 1894. By the year 1897, she resolved to withdraw the lawsuit brought against the person responsible for the death of her son, if he made an important donation for the construction of a hospital to bear the name of the deceased. Burgos accepts. After the request of the Loberense residents, the municipality grants possession of half-fifths destined to carry out this important work. relevant data The work began in 1897, which is why that date appears on the threshold of the entrance door. On May 28, 1900, the establishment began to function and the inauguration took place on June 18, 1900. Its first director was Dr. Alfredo J. Treglia. On January 6, 1905, the "Women and maternity room" was inaugurated. The hospital had benefactors who, with their generous contributions, allowed the city to have a charity institution and, later, could complete hospital services with new wards such as the one for tuberculosis. The gratitude of the founder of the hospital and other ladies such as Juana E. de Pradere and Eugenia Ostria de Mayora deserve to be noted. the mystery of marble At the entrance to the hospital, a marble with an inscription was placed. Some comment that the name of Gaspar M. Campos was found on it, so that those who passed through the place would revere him. Others say that it said "Luis Pedro Burgos" so that those who passed through it would step on it. It has not been possible to confirm which of the versions is the true one because this marble, which was transferred to another sector of the hospital, has not been legible for a long time. Not even the descendants of Campos know it.
